“The Non Stationary Bike”. Where did RealRyder get the inspiration for the unique design of the ABF8 Stationary Bike?

We are still waiting for someone to guess where the inspiration for our moving stationary bike came from. Did it come from the extreme lean angles that professional riders like World Champion, Cadel Evans can achieve? Sounds possible, but no, that isn’t it!

We have already told you it didn’t come from any existing stationary bike or spinning bike, so come on guys apply some lateral thinking and let’s have some guesses!

While you are doing your Sunday morning ride or indoor cycling class, take a little time to think about what might inspire someone to think of designing a stationary bike that actually moves and leans. The benefits and additional fun factor are apparent to everyone who rides a RealRyder and like many great  ideas you may find yourself asking why didn’t someone think of this before?

Now if you are lucky enough to have tried our “Non Stationary Bike” or “Un-Stationary Bike” you may have an advantage in guessing where the inspiration for the ablity to lean came from, but either way send us your comments!

Does it have anything to do with riding a motorbike? or the pendulum of a clock???

No to the pendulum! Getting warm with the motorbike, you can actually go from lock to lock Moto GP style! All will be revealed soon!

I think the inspiration may have come from cyclist who can, as we used to say in Barbados “Sticking”. That’s where the rider brings a real bike to a stop and freezes it in position, often having to turn the handles and occasionally skip the entire bike laterally by lifting the back and front wheels simultaneously (obviously needing to have rat traps or clips to lift the rear of the bike by the peddles). A tactic often employed by indoor cyclist in the velodrome during the first lap of a race in an attempt to force a rider to take the lead so that drafting could be employed by the rider at the back.

Interesting idea Frantz, but no it’s not “Sticking”. Thanks for the info though, I just learned a new name for a track stand! Is it only used in Barbados?
